Our Mission
Further Animal Outreach brings veterinary resources directly to the vulnerable communites that need them. Our founders have directly witnessed the animal suffering and overpopulation faced by the Houston area. Increased cost of living, food, and veterinary care have directly impacted the ability for pet owners to care for their animals. Further helps keep animals in their homes by providing high quality, low cost veterinary care for pet owners who are in need. Each animal deserves excellent medical care, regardless of ownership status.
Meet Our Team
Executive Director
Dr. Carolyn Bender began her career in Houston over five years ago as a shelter veterinarian. Since then, she has worked in numerous shelters in the Houston area, refining her medical and HQHVSN surgical skills. In 2020, she combined her career with her love of traveling when she volunteered at a nonprofit clinic on the island of Saipan alongside Dr. Kris Anderson. She has also volunteered with other nonprofits to provide free veterinary care to native tribal lands. Her other passions include scuba diving, reading, and caring for her three dogs, two ball pythons, and the one cat to rule them all.
President & Director of International Operations
Dr. Kris Anderson has owned her mobile equine practice for over ten years. She has gained a reputation for the high standard of medicine she practices and her ability to nail down the tough cases. Her love of adventure and never-ending energy helped make the 2020 Saipan trip a reality. Since then, Dr. Anderson has returned multiple times a year to the Mariana Islands to provide hundreds of free surgeries and exams for community animals. Her other hobbies include advanced scuba diving, fossil hunting, and breaking out of escape rooms. When she’s not traveling abroad, one can find her at her ranch with her horses, donkeys, cats, and her Great Dane, Crash.
